How much has Earth changed?
Google Earth is a very interesting tool that many people know. With its satellite images, anyone can visit places anywhere on Earth. And now, it has released its biggest update in years: a time-lapse of the entire planet.
The new feature is called Timeline. It allows you to see the Earth change over the years. It uses millions of satellite images from 1984 to 2020. It is beautiful, and also shows the dangerous results of global warming.
Google needed more than two million processing hours using thousands of machines to produce the video mosaic.
It is exciting to see the planet through this tool. But Google hopes users can see a greater message. It really shows how the Earth is changing over time. And its message is clear: we need to do more to protect our only home.
